DESCRIPTION:Edmonton\, AB – JUNO Award-winning Pro Coro Canada\, joined by guests Edmonton Young Voices (Lyndsey Olsen\, director)\, proudly presents its final concert of the 2025-2026 season\, Ice: Voices for a Frozen World. \nThis timely program featuring innovative choral works invites audiences to reflect on their relationship to the earth and the impact of climate change on this planet we call\nhome. Program highlights include Rachel Portman’s Earth Song\, which evokes the words of renowned climate activist Greta Thunberg. This program will also feature the works of other female composers from Canada and abroad on this pressing theme:\n● Sherryl Sewepagaham – nitohtamok askîy\n● Rebecca Gray – The Great Patch\n● Sarah Albu – we’ve gone too far!\n● AURORA – The Seed\n● Shruthi Rajasekar – Heart of the Earth\n● Katerina Gimon – Earth\n● Sofia Söderberg – Mother Earth\n● Katerina Gimon – Water\nIn partnership with Naheyawin and through the support of Edmonton Community Foundation\, there will be a smudging prior to the concert outside of the venue as well as a tobacco ceremony following led by Cree facilitator Jacquelyn Cardinal. The concert will also feature a display of vinyl album covers designed by students from the University of Alberta’s Art & Design program inspired by the works presented in this concert.
