New Romantics is a string nonet concert celebrating the love each of us has for treasured places or experiences, a love that burns as brightly in our memories as the connections we feel to the people who have shaped us. We are honoured to be premiering Lai’s “Unsung Legacy,” a concerto for Chinese flute and string orchestra, with support from Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Dizi player Jiajia Li will fly you from Hong Kong to Edmonton and back in a tour de force of virtuosity and soulful exploration of what “home” really means.
